Antigua Honeymoon Murder

Antigua seems like such a relaxing honeymoon destination, but after the murder of the British honeymoon couple, engaged couples must be rethinking their Caribbean destination. Although not as big of a backlash as what happened in Aruba, there does seem to be some hesitation for engaged couples. Unfortunately, a tragedy like this could happen anywhere.

Tell me what you think - Would you go to Antigua for your honeymoon?

Don't go far, stay close and choose a fantastic honeymoon resort

Many couples envision a honeymoon far away on a deserted island. This is definitely a dream vacation!  Unfortunately, this usually means spending a lot of money on airfare and not spending as much on your  hotel, fine dining and excursions. In the current economy, more couples are seeking destinations closer to home. No more feeling drained after a 12 hour plane ride to your destination.  This may sound like a bummer if you dream of getting far away, but it can also be the right choice to enjoy the time you spend on your honeymoon without breaking the bank. It also lets you discover amazing locations close to home.

It could also mean that you can stay at a luxury honeymoon resort instead of a 2-3 star hotel. When choosing between a three star and a five star resort, the difference is astonishing. The five star treatment, especially on your honeymoon, will leave you pampered and refreshed. There's nothing wrong with getting far away from home! But, if you have to choose between spending more on your airfare or upgrading your resort, you may want to consider choosing the resort and stay a little closer to home.

Lush St. Lucia

There's something inspiring about relaxing on a beach with verdant mountains behind you. I love having more to look at than blue water, even though being in the water is one of my favorite pastimes. It is still nice to have a little green in the mix. St. Lucia is the perfect destination for both beautiful waters and countryside. There are the same water activities as on most Caribbean islands, as well as warm, volcanic hot springs to soak in or a gondola that soars through the forest. Or, spend a day on one of the many hiking trails. Hiking is such a romantic activity and a nice break from the beach. Bring a picnic and enjoy your time together. There is plenty to see and do on a St. Lucia honeymoon.
